A Mad Hippie and a Recovering Sun-Worshiper

Being a new mama and being up at crazy hours, I’ve watched countless YouTube videos and read a lot of articles on daily routines for the face. What else am I supposed to do when I’m pumping at 2AM?

First off, you should know that my face is combination in the summer and tends to dry a tiny little bit in the winter. I don’t change my routine with the seasons, as I like to stick with what I know and keep things simple. Well, actually I used to keep things a lot simpler…until I started watching more beauty videos and reading skin care articles.

One day I stumbled upon a serum article which intrigued me because I’ve heard about them but never actually bought one. I began googling top serums, which lead me to the magical product by Mad Hippie.

I was looking for something that had good ingredients and something I could use both morning and night. I’ve been more conscientious lately about what I put in my body as well as what I put on my body because I want to be as healthy as I can. Having beautiful skin starts with what you eat and drink, but the products you use on your skin have a huge impact as well. I was on the lookout for something with natural ingredients, and what caught my attention was the fact that health-food stores were carrying this brand. One of the first things I look at before purchasing any product are the reviews. If it has a majority of shitty reviews, I don’t even bother looking any further into the product. The Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum had amazing reviews so that is what initially drew me in. All my life I have been a sun worshiper. I used to compare my tan to the tans of my friends just for fun. I used to go tanning at the tanning salon (ew, I know) during the winter months and before going away somewhere hot. Needless to say, the amount of time I have spent in the sun has led to some sun damage (I can’t see it, but I know it’s there). That, mixed with sleepless nights that come with being a new mom, was a recipe for skin that was lacking a little somethin’ somethin.’ So I searched for a serum with vitamin C in it. Vitamin C is supposed to work magic on skin, not only when you ingest it, but when you put it on your skin. I won’t get into the list of ingredients and why they’re good for your skin, because quite frankly, I’m no dermatologist, but if you look up the product, you can see a list of ingredients and their benefits.

Why use a serum? The concentrated potion is goes deeply into the skin and doesn’t just hang out on top. This serum is on the pricey side, so for a 30 ml/1.02 fl oz bottle, you’re looking at around $50 CAD plus tax (if you find it for cheaper, please let me know!). Now keep in mind that this is the first serum that I’ve ever used so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I’ll tell you now that when this bottle is done, I’ll definitely be repurchasing it. Why fix it if it ain’t broke, right? It comes in a little glass bottle and has a dropper for easy use. I use it in the morning and at night. In the morning I give my face a splash of water, sometimes I’ll spray on my tonic water, put on my serum, end my routine with a light moisturizer, then I put on my makeup. In the evening, I take off my makeup with makeup remover and cotton pads, then cleanse my face, spray my toner, put on my serum and then last but not least, my nightly moisturizer. Three drops of this serum is the perfect amount for me. I put it all over my face first and whatever remains on my hands, I put on my neck. I like that it’s not greasy and absorbs right into my skin. My skin literally soaks it up like a sponge! I don’t have any sun spots or visible sun damage, but I find that after a couple months of use, my skin looks brighter and healthier.

Whether you’re a young whipper-snapper or you have laugh lines that tell a story of your beautiful life, this product will benefit your skin. So if you’re looking for something to brighten your skin, or you want to try a new product just for fun, I highly recommend this one!
